Abacoa is a 2,055 acre development built on the southern edge of Jupiter and consisting of 15 family-based communities. The development consists of townhomes, condos, and single-family homes and was planned as a response to the suburban sprawl found in most of South Florida. Abacoa Homes were planned to integrate work, live, play into a community of mixed use zoning and bringing all facets of community life together in one place.
In order to facilitate mixing a wide diversity of groups, varying housing styles were built and one of these is Somerset, Abacoa, a mix of condos and townhouses. The 266 homes in Somerset were built in 2003-2004 and the condos offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units which range in size from 897 square feet to about 1,400 feet. The townhouses come in 2 and 3 bedroom floor plans and sizes range up to over 1,700 square feet. Units have balconies and inside you will find upgrades like crown molding, wood floors, granite counters and stainless steel appliances.
Somerset offers the chance to walk the children to school and four schools are located in or near Abacoa. These schools are Beacon Cove Intermediate School, Independence Middle School, Lighthouse Elementary School and Jupiter Middle School. The high schools nearby are Jupiter High School and Dwyer High School and all of these schools are part of the Palm Beach County School District.
Abacoa provides recreational amenities like baseball at the Roger Dean Stadium, home to the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals and where the Jupiter Hammerheads play after the major league season takes the Marlins away. Golfers will appreciate the challenging Abacoa Golf Club. The Abacoa Town Center offers a weekly green market, concerts and restaurants. Our beaches are only a 5 minute drive away and the shopping and dining in Palm Beach Gardens is just 10 minutes to the south.
