Located in the western Caribbean Sea is the British overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands. This 102 square mile territory is made of three islands Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. It is thought that Christopher Columbus discovered the islands in 1503 and he named the island Las Tortugas due to the high number of turtles on the island, it later became known as the Caymans because of the presence of caimans. England took control of the Cayman Islands around about 1670 along with Jamaica.

The Cayman Islands are a popular destination for tourists especially with cruise ship passengers who spend a stop over sunbathing, swimming, and shopping before moving on to the next destination. Points of interest here include Seven Mile Beach which is in fact only 5 and a half miles long! Starfish Point with its beautiful Red Cushion sea stars which can be seen in the waters, Crystal Caves with its limestone caves  of which there are 105 although only three are open to the public for now, and Owen Island which is a tine deserted island where you can enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, and more. The Cayman Islands has a wet and dry climate with May to October being wet season and November to April being dry season.
