Just south of the islands of Antigua and Barbuda lies the French island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean Sea; it consists of 6 inhabited islands as well as many uninhabited ones. Sometimes known as the butterfly island due to the two main islands being joined together to look like the wings of a butterfly this beautiful country offers beach towns, white sandy beaches, jungle wreathed mountains and so much more.

Grande Terre is the eastern of the two butterfly islands with beautiful beaches and plenty of activities. Mountainous Basse Terre is the western island with waterfalls, a volcano, and the Parc National de la Guadeloupe. Smaller island include Les Saintes, Marie Galante, and La Desirade.

Popular past times include tennis, golf, fishing, sailing, scuba diving, hiking, and more. Be sure to visit the Zoo in Basse Terre which combines animals with a jungle adventure, Pigeon Island is a wonderful spot for snorkeling and scuba diving with coral reefs and numerous dive sites to be enjoyed, and Jardin Botanique de Deshaies is a spectacular botanical garden and wildlife park a true treat not to be missed. Whether you enjoy sandy beaches or jagged peaks, each “wing” of Guadeloupe has something different and cultural to offer. Even the weather can be different from sunshine on one side to tropical downpours on the other.

Evening entertainment options include two casinos, a plethora of nightspots, nightclubs, bars, jazz venues, and piano bars, and hotels provide dinner and dances, as well as live performances.

Guadeloupe has real estate for everyone in a blend of cities, rustic hamlets, secluded beaches, and rain forests. Interesting Caribbean real estate includes lavish estates, modest cottages, oceanfront homes with acres of garden, family homes with pools in a residential neighborhood, and many with an affordable price tag.

Guadeloupe is the picture postcard destination and a great place to call home so if you are looking for your slice of paradise speak to an agent who can help with your questions.
