Welcome to Barbados! An eastern Caribbean Island located roughly 100 miles east of St Vincent and the Grenadines and 104 miles east of St Lucia . Barbados has an interesting history as far as “ownership”, in the beginning it was claimed by the Spanish crown, in 1532 the Portuguese claimed the island but later abandoning it in 1620; it was in 1625 that an English ship arrived and claimed the island in the name of King James I and it became a British Colony. On November 30^th, 1966 Barbados became an independent state with Elizabeth II as its queen.
