Guatemala Central America Homes for Sale

Guatemala is the largest populated country in Central America and lies just south of Mexico with neighbors that include Belize and El Salvador. The origin of the name Guatemala is Indian, but its meaning is undetermined, the country has a strong Indian culture which distinguishes itself from other Central America countries.

Guatemala is known for its volcanoes, to the south is a string of 27 volcanoes that runs for about 180 miles stretching between the borders of Mexico and El Salvador. These volcanoes dot the landscape with their imposing silhouettes, but they also offer an adventures playground for hiking, biking, and various sports activities. Once you reside in the country you are sure to catch a glimpse of the Volcan Fuego that erupts frequently as often as once per hour!

Central America is full of Mayan ruins and Guatemala is no different. Here you can find the Tikal, a beloved site visited by many tourists and residents alike. This popular ruin is found in the jungle of northern Guatemala near the border of Belize but is not easy to navigate so be prepared for some jungle adventure. On your way to Tikal jump off Jorge’s rope swing located on a secluded lake.

Guatemala’s culture is diverse and varied and a great way to experience it is to attend one of the many markets. San Marcos is a cute town with a strong hippy vibe and is a great place to eat vegan food and soak up the local atmosphere and receive some spiritual healing if that is your thing. With many markets to attend you won’t be short of shopping experiences. Rows and rows of stalls feature local handicrafts and plenty of souvenirs, sample delicious food and soak up the local culture as you pass through.

Travel throughout the country is time consuming and not easy but it is possible to reach fantastic destinations with plenty of scope for exploring exciting places.

Real estate within the country is varied, there are many beautiful locations. Choose between quaint country villages, colonial towns, and bigger more busy towns. Condos and gated communities provide extra security, but the fees can also drive the costs up. Finding the right property and navigating the process can be tricky so let an agent of Echo Fine Properties assist you with your search.
