Honduras is another Central America country that benefits from two coastlines, the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Many are attracted to the country for its natural environment; more than three fourths of the land is mountainous, its gorgeous sandy beaches, coral reefs, abundant flora and fauna and fascinating archaeological sites.
The country relies mainly on agriculture, farming, textiles, and tourism which serves the international market and keeps Honduras going. As you travel the country you can expect to find coffee plantations, banana plantations, and others that include tropical fruit, and sugar cane. The cities, of which there are two main ones have a great emphasis on textiles factories.
Travel about and discover some great historical ruins, the site at Copan is a great place to start with its Mayan ruins, the archaeological Park at Copan is also an extraordinary collection of buildings and has been classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Other history on Honduras includes The Fortress of San Fernando in Cotes, The Fort of San Cristobel in Lempira and the Eco Archaeological Park of the Naranjos in Yojoa lake.
Adventures on Honduras are easily come by with the landscape being an adventurer’s playground. Zip line through the jungle canopies, tackle the rapids of the Cangrejal River with different levels of difficulty, and there are several waterfalls which are the perfect place for taking a swim and somewhere you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the nature around. For underwater adventures there are a few islands that provide great diving points. Utila is a natural paradise and one f the largest coral reefs in America, a natural reserve with mangroves, wetlands, and tropical savannas.
Honduras provides a range of shopping locations from large shopping malls to local markets. Copan is the center for arts and crafts and anything with a bohemian flare, there are also markets in San Pedro Sula, San Isidro, and Tela. As well as craft markets expect to find areas for fruit and veg and household items.
The cost of living in Honduras is relatively low making it a desirable option for many. There are many styles of properties available from 3-bedroom modern houses, to traditional Honduras builds, homes with sea views, homes with mountain views, Colonial style buildings, homes within communities with amenities, and even lots ready to have the perfect home built.
