Tequesta Real Estate has a quaint small-town feel. Best known for its marinas, the Jupiter Lighthouse, and the Jupiter Island Condos that overlook the Intracoastal and border the Atlantic Ocean, Tequesta homes offer a little bit of paradise and a relaxed lifestyle to residents of Palm Beach County. Tequesta began life in 1957, the year it received its Municipal Charter. The name Tequesta came from a strong Indian Tribe of South Florida who encroached upon the nomadic Jeagas who were inhabiting the area. Today, residents like to keep the full name, the ‘Village of Tequesta’. Now you’ll find a gorgeous little town where residents and visitors enjoy the ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, many golf courses, shopping centers, beautiful homes and condominiums and best of all, not too many people. The location is ideal – using US 1 there is easy access to both the southern towns of Jupiter and Jupiter Island, and the northern towns of Hobe Sound and Stuart in Martin County. Demand for homes here is on the rise given the opportunities for land and recreation throughout the town.
The Loxahatchee River touches much of the area which allows for boating, fishing, jet-skiing, kayaking, and snorkeling. You will find paddle boarders and kayakers launching from various spots along the water. Direct access to the ocean by boat is just minutes away through the Jupiter Inlet which is marked by the historically designated Jupiter Lighthouse. The Atlantic Ocean is a fishing paradise with the Gulf Stream current. The proximity to water gives residents the opportunity to enjoy all the water based recreation activities.
There are several individual communities within Tequesta, and you will find golf carts are frequently used to travel from one neighborhood to the other! There are several excellent golf communities such as the respected Jupiter Hills. The amazing elevated lots here have fairway and preserve views. The family friendly community of Tequesta Country Club offers a private membership golf course that recently had a restoration and renovation project conducted by the well-known designer Tom Fazio, who also happens to be a member of the club!. There are many other outstanding golf courses located throughout Jupiter and Tequesta.
There are a range of homes available from luxury waterfront estates and charming single family homes, to condos and townhomes. Styles range from one story ranch style homes to larger two story homes that often have several thousand square feet of space. Ramp access to the Intracoastal Waterway for boat and trailer is common for many homes. You will find condos and townhomes in the popular communities of Tequesta Cove, Sandpointe Bay, Anchorage Point, Bay Harbor, Heritage Oaks, Jupiter Hills, and Rolling Hills.
There are also many luxury homes in the area, and many vacant land lots along the river where older homes once stood. Many of the older homes have been redeveloped into beautiful estates which mark the Jupiter River areas. The newer homes along the Loxahatchee River range from six and seven bedrooms and up to ten thousand square feet in size.
There are several parks in Tequesta which adds to the appeal the area has to families. Constitution Park and Tequesta Park have large open spaces with tennis courts, basketball courts, and baseball fields. There is something for everyone in Tequesta! Coral Cove Park is also in Tequesta, where you’ll find natural limestone rock formations which allow snorkelers see wondrous underwater visuals when the conditions are right. Besides the incredible scenery where many a family photo has been taken upon the rocks, there is great surfing here in the wintertime. On the Intracroastal side, boats dock during weekends and families can have great fun in the shallow water. Upon the Jupiter Island Bridge overlooking the historic Jupiter Lighthouse you can enjoy excellent snook fishing.
Amazing restaurants and shopping opportunities are easily accessible on US1. Several charming and casual open air restaurants line the inlet with great views of the lighthouse. The famous Burt Reynold’s Malts Theatre of the Performing Arts is nearby for a variety of shows and performances. Discover history and art at the Flagler Museum, or world-class entertainment at the Kravis Center in downtown West Palm Beach. It’s just a short drive to Palm Beach Island which offers a rich history, world class shopping on Worth Avenue, and incredible fine dining.
The international equestrian and polo communities of Wellington and Hobe Sound are also approximately 30 minutes off the FL turnpike. This area has easy access available to Palm Beach International Airport, I-95 and the Florida’s Turnpike.
