Avondale is one of the residential neighborhoods developed as part of Avenir, a master-planned community built on the former Vavrus Ranch property. Planning for Avenir began in the early 2010s, with the development eventually receiving approvals for thousands of residential units along with commercial, office, medical, recreational, and conservation uses. 

The City of Palm Beach Gardens approved Avondale’s 390-unit site plan in 2020, and the neighborhood became part of the continuing residential growth of Avenir. Current city records continue to identify Avondale at Avenir as one of the development’s residential projects.
