Being from Chicago, people sometimes never know what I am saying. “POP” is what we Chicagoans call soft drinks whereas New Yorkers call it “soda”. And “Gym Shoes” are what we run in, while Northeasterners call them “Sneakers”. And mustard, never ketchup on hot dogs by the way!
“ROOF” is another one of those words people do a double take on when I’m saying it’s new or needs repair. When I say “ROOF” it sounds more like a dog bark “WUF WUF WUF” but with an R. Very “My Cousin Vinny” Two Yutes sort of thing.
People up North also don’t understand why roofs in Florida last much less than they do up north, and why they are so pricey.
Last week we talked all about Impact Glass, so this week I thought having an interview with Al Pestana owner of Pestana Roofing (for new) and Roof Express (for repairs) would be a great topic for Real Estate Roundtable. Watch LIVE at 9am or rerun on our website or watch on Facebook if you’d like to interact with us.
Al is one of the local inspectors’ favorite recommendations for roof repair or new jobs. He has been licensed in roofing since 1991 and works within a 50-mile radius in the Palm Beaches. His Pop (not the soda 🥤) was in construction. Most of his business comes from recommendations and word of mouth.
Roof repairs and new roofs never come with a bundle of joy like a sexy new kitchen or an oasis remodeled bath. You say “oh, that looks nice”, and never look at again. Yet the cost is comparable to the fun items.
There is a lot to talk about with roofing. Why do roofs not last as long as they do in the north? Hint – the extremes in weather, salt, and method? Why does the underlayment last less than the exterior?
Is metal, tile, or shingles the best material? What is the modified roofing method? Are there any advances that extend roof life? Why is waterproofing a roof a good idea? How long is a roof under warranty? What changes are insurance companies making for how long they will insure both the roof and flat portion? Also, what changes are happening with insurance companies on length of time to make a claim? That and a lot more on Real Estate Roundtable.
If you need a quote on a new roof Pestana Roofing or a repair Roof Express, call Al Pestana at 561-585-0541 or email him at [email protected]. He talks to each client individually, manages it himself and loves people interaction. You can tell him Jeff sent you!
