Currently in the planning stages and one of the few remaining major tracts for single-family home development in South Florida, Westlake will be a 4,500 home community and Palm Beach County’s newest municipality. This new community will be located along Seminole Pratt Whitney Road north of Loxahatchee Groves and Lion Country Safari on almost 4,000 acres. Minto Communities is the builder of this very large development that is being touted as the new downtown of central Palm Beach County.
There will be an assortment of home types that includes a combination of single-family homes and townhomes. Included in this community will be 2.1 million square feet of commercial development, comprised of retail/office space, a student university, and a 150-unit hotel. The Town Center will become the social and entertainment hub of the community and will serve not only the residents of Westlake, but also the surrounding western communities. The plans include offering a diverse array of business and commercial uses, including shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
According to Mike Belmont, President of Minto Communities, The vision for Westlake is to create a community that complements the surrounding environment. Natural areas and open spaces will occupy over 55% of the property with over 240 acres of parks, 600 acres of lakes, and 15 miles of walking and biking trails.
The main entrance will be located on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. Two miles of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road will be widened to accommodate the traffic flow.
