Tucked away on the Treasure Coast of Martin County, between West Palm Beach and Fort Pierce you will find Jensen Beach. The history of Jensen Beach revolved primarily around Pineapple Farming and the pineapple is now the symbol of this popular town. By 1895 it was known as the “Pineapple Capital of the World” shipping over 1 million pineapples a year! Eventually a pineapple factory was built to help with the increased production.
Today the town still hosts an annual pineapple festival which is one of the few remaining street festivals in South Florida. This marvelous festival features something for everyone with concerts, arts and crafts, street performers, local bands, a Bahamian market, and more.
Jensen Beach is also renowned for its retail shopping with major shopping centers, specialty shops, and boutique stores. Water enthusiasts will enjoy boating, fishing, water skiing, surfing and scuba diving, and the beaches attract many species of turtle who migrate for nesting season.
Dine out at a choice of restaurants many with a waterfront location with a large emphasis on seafood although other menus are on offer. Most restaurants also provide live entertainment for your enjoyment. Another annual holiday to note is the Taste of Jensen where you can sample delicacies from local eateries along the downtown corridor. For family entertainment why not visit the Jammin’ Jensen every Thursday in downtown and discover local artists’ displays, music, crafts, and much more.
Jensen Beach real estate for sale ranges from condos on the Indian River, single family homes with docks or more of a central location, and mobile homes many strictly reserved for the over 55’s. There is something for everyone in this quaint town of Martin County.
