Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful city located on the coast just 25 miles north of Miami. Known as the “Yachting Capital of the World”, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Florida, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale area is home to thousands of restaurants, over 60 golf courses, and 100 marinas that house around 45,000 resident yachts. The Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a 180-acre beachfront park where you can enjoy nature trails, camping, picnicking, and canoeing. The Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment district is home to plenty of cultural attractions to fill your time, including the Museum of Discovery and Science, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and the Florida Grand Opera.
The Fort Lauderdale beaches see the Sea Turtle Nesting Season from March through to October, and residents and visitors to the area are encouraged to help the sea turtles wherever possible by keeping beaches clean and reducing the use of artificial lighting near the beaches.
