When you ask any resident of the Keystone community how they like the neighborhood, the glowing reviews come pouring out: It’s such a peaceful community, the neighbors have become close friends, I’ve lived here for 30 years and will never leave, the community is beautifully maintained. And then, in the midst of these conversations, over and over I get the same name drop and a finger pointed to her door: “You have to go see Arlene.”
What I’ve learned is Arlene is the Queen Bee of Keystone to say the least. A resident of the community since 2005, she’s been on the HOA Board for the past ten years, and President of the HOA since 2015. Boy has she been busy, too. I asked Arlene what being President of the HOA entails, and she proceeded to give me a laundry list of upgrades put into place since during her reign. In the last two years, the roads in the community were paved, and the sidewalks have been power-washed. All the buildings in the community have been freshly painted, and new outdoor lights on each landing installed. They’ve replaced the mailboxes and even the dumpster doors! And of course, the clubhouse id receiving the treatment- with renovated bathrooms, and a brand new pool! The next part is the kicker- this was all done without a special assessment or a single extra penny paid by the residents! Arlene confirms that reserves are always full so the community remains in a stable position, and this at only a $20 quarterly cost to Keystone residents.
It’s not just about maintaining appearances however, there’s genuine friendships made in Keystone, thanks to the many events held in the clubhouse. At any given time you can find invitations posted around the neighborhood for year-round events: Thanksgiving and Christmas parties for those who don’t have family close-by. Chef Mike, who used to own a restaurant up north, pulls together shrimp and prime rib dinners in the clubhouse. One of the neighbors somehow ended up with a plethora of beans, so the new Bean & Ham Dinner Event was created. And what to plan for next? The Superbowl party coming up with all the h’orderves and fixins expected.
What I’ve gathered from my time in Keystone is that if you’re looking for an affordable new home, where you know your home’s value will maintain, and where you can actually be part of a community, then Keystone is the place for you!
