Meet Jupiter Country Club’s new tennis professional: Massimo Policastro

Jupiter Country Club recently welcomed their new tennis professional, Massimo Policastro. Massimo originally hails from Napoli, Italy. He found his love for tennis as a young boy growing up in Italy. He won state tournaments as a youth for the national Italian tennis team in the 12, 14 and 16 year old divisions.

At 17, his coach recommended that Massimo move to Florida and attend the Bollettieri Tennis Academy (now known as IMG Academy) to continue his training. Famous players including Andre Agassi and Maria Sharapova also trained at Bollettieri. As Massimo improved his skills, he spent 2 years touring professionally with the Bollettieri traveling team.

Although he had many invitations from US colleges, he missed Italy and returned to Milan. In Milan, Massimo had an opportunity to work with other players at his level, or above. He would practice with Bjorn Borg often. In 1990, Massimo began playing the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Futures and Challenger tournaments while attending university. During this time, Massimo was awarded the best Italian ranking in the Italian Division 2 (B1) in 1994 and First Runner-up in Italian Championships in Bari in 1994.

The next year, he decided to undergo the rigorous 12-month certification to become a tennis coach in Rome. In Italy, the program is a full year, unlike in the US, where the process can be quite simple with minimal requirements. After achieving his certification, he continued to play nationally in Italy. While playing in an exhibition in Sardinia, he was offered a position at the Aspria Harbour Club in Milan. Over 18 years, he climbed the ranks at Aspria beginning as a Tennis Professional, learned the ropes and became a Sales & Marketing Executive. His success caught the eye of Midtown Athletic Club in Weston, Florida where he became the General Manager.

Jupiter Country Club has been lucky enough to recruit Massimo as their own highly-experienced tennis professional and member of their wonderful fitness team!
