Is it a good idea to rent a house that is listed?

Here is a question which I recently received.

Is it a good idea to rent a house that is listed while rented seasonally or if that is a bad idea?

Thanks

Todd
Todd,

Basically they have a low chance of selling because the renter is not interested in selling.

The renter does not want to be bothered because they don’t get anything out of it. They usually make it difficult to show and keep the house messy. Can you blame them?

My advice is to give the renter some incentive. Give the renter a month off the lease if it is under contract and successfully closes while they are in the house. All of a sudden the renter will become an asset, pushing for the sale, and not a liability.
